Grows in well drained but moisture retentive calcium rich soils. No direct sun-light. Flowers late spring (May-June). Flowers have been known to reach 70cm. has a winter dornacy. starts groeing early spring. Used to be country wide but now very rare in UK, Only found in the Midlands on one site.

Spiranthes spirales

Grows in dry nutrient poor soil, often near the sea. In full sun. Flowers August to September. Spike can reach 20cm. Leaves start to die off over summer before they flower. Then starts to grow new leaves and last over the winter. Found only in the southern UK and mainly by the Sea.
